Captains Weekend – June 2012

Captain’s weekend at LHGC was a great success with 216 members taking part in the medal round alone on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th June.  Captain Darren Pountney and Vice Captain Phill Harris were on hand throughout the tournament welcoming contestants to the first tee and whishing them well.  Captain Darren’s pin placements made for challenging puts on all of the greens and strong winds ensured that the course played longer than normal, however many members rose to the individual challenge.  Lilleshall is the only club in Shropshire to run the Captain’s medal as a qualifier competition with the best 12 competitors taking part in a 9 hole play off as the final event.  Wayne Frost finally won the day over the other medal qualifiers below, Andrew Napier, Ian Shackleton, Graham Jones, Robert Butler, John Gargett, Andrew Morgan, John Cresswell, Ian Bonsor, Phil Tea, Duncan Weaver & Alan Hickman.

• The best Gross score was by Edward Tranter, a fine achievement on a challenging day.
