Lilleshall Hall Golf Course has been mapped by the latest GPS satellite technology such as SkyCaddie and Caddy Lite which are available from most Golf Stores.
These systems tell you the distance from key hazards and to the front/centre of the green. You can also use the system on 100's of other courses in the UK, Europe & the USA.
Although the R & A have introduced a rule (below) to recognise these devices, it has been left to the discretion of the club whether they are allowed in competitions.
'Another major change is the governing bodies sanction of the use of distance measuring devices, including GPS based systems and laser rangefinders. New Decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. This applies to devices that measure distance only, not any other conditions that might affect a player's game such as wind or gradient.
Lilleshall Hall Golf Club committee has introduced such a local rule. However, the Shropshire & Herefordshire Union of Golf Clubs (SHUGC) do not permit the use of these devices in their county competitions. For example, the Chronicle Cup qualifier and match play competitions such as the Hargrove Trophy, Handicap League & Ken Smith Trophy.
