The Opening of the New 17th Tee – Saturday 24 March 2012

Come along and witness the opening of the new 17th tee on Saturday, 24th March 2012 at 10:00am

We hope to have some local celebrities present for the event.

We are running a raffle in which 1 member from the gents section and 1 member from the ladies section will win the honour to be the first members to tee off. Have a go when you are next at the club. information available from the bar staff.

It is also our intention to the get the local media involved to cover the event.

Ladies Section – Coffee Morning – Tuesday 14 Feb 2012

Ladies’ Section Coffee Morning

This was held on Tuesday 14^th February 2012.

Members, friends and visitors from other local clubs gathered for coffee and cake and raised funds in aid of the Captains’ Charity “the Multiple Sclerosis Society.”

Stalls selling cakes and produce, books, DVD’s, and jigsaws, and a Raffle all helped to swell the profits.

An extremely interesting and entertaining talk entitled “Rescuing a Walled Kitchen Garden” given by Mrs Karen Jacques of Sugnall Hall, nr Eccleshall completed the morning.

I am pleased to report that £412.00 was raised for our Charity.

Well done and thank you to the Ladies’ Section.

Gents Major Knockout Entries 2012

Entries close on Thursday evening, 24th February 2012 for the Wateridge Cup (scratch knockout), Denis Comer Cup (handicap knockout), PGA Pairs Trophy and the foursomes knockout.

If you have been unable to get to the club recently through the bad weather and would like to enter any of the above then please give me a call on 07766 202607 to register your entry or post your name on the board in the gents changing room as per normal.

Draw will be published shortly after the above date in order for 1st round matches to commence March 2012.

They have all been brought forward a month this season due to the number of entries in the handicap singles event (Denis Comer Cup) being highly successful since introduction two years ago.

The gents team have been drawn away to play Telford GC in the mail on sunday team classic on Saturday 3rd March 2012.

Good luck to Andy Morgan (team captain), Nigel Saville, Jason Pethard, Mark Homer and Darren Pountney.

Mail on Sunday Team Classic – Ladies

A team of 5 ladies travelled to South Staffs on Sunday 29^th January to represent the Club in this competition.

Unfortunately the course was all on temporary greens so they were unable to play the match and rescheduled for Friday 3^rd February.

Once again, the ladies travelled to South Staffs with a slightly different team due to work commitments but there was still 18 temporary greens in operation.

The match had to be played as snow was on it’s way this weekend and the only other option was to toss a coin for the result.

Helena Price, Denise Moreton, Margo Semple, and Helen Hampton all had close fought matches but sadly all lost with only winner for the club being Jayne Sandford.

Thanks to all of you for playing in very difficult conditions.
